Honors Society Essay Community Service and Leadership

Throughout my life I always thought the little things that we do to help people in our community are the things that made the biggest difference. I learned in church one day on a Sunday about how to improve ourselves to get closer to God. The pastor said that we are so busy with our daily activities that sometimes we get distracted on things that matter the most. Sometimes even though we might be busy, we should just take a brief moment to help others in need. That is why I find community service important because you are not just building our career we are also building our character as a leader and as a citizen. I never was a good leader; I still struggle to become a leader. I struggle because I am shy; I am shy because I am scared to rise above others and scared to make a stand. That if I do raise above others my opinion wont matter and if I make a stand the position I take will be wrong. Sometimes I see people on the bus bully or laugh at others and I think to myself, someone say something do something, anything. No one ever does. Are those people scared like me, that if they stand up for what is right they will be pulled in to the hate and get judged? We don’t realize that even though people might judge us, but to others you will become a leader, a remodel. That is who I am trying to become, a person who is not afraid to look the worst of enemies in the eye even though we know we might lose. I find character the most important out of leadership and citizenshipShow MoreRelatedNational Honor Society Essay672 Words   |  3 PagesYiming Yu 11/26/2012 National Honor Society Application Essay It is unbelievable that this year is my last year in Charlestown High School.
